How is Ethylene glycol stored and distributed?
- Industrial Glycol is a water-absorbing substance and should be stored in a cool and ventilated
warehouse.
- It should be kept away from fire and heat sources and avoid direct sunlight. The packing container
must be kept tightly closed during storage.
- It should be stored separately from oxidizers and acids. When using storage tanks, they should be
filled with dry nitrogen and sealed.
What is Ethylene glycol used for?
EG can be used as a solvent for antifreeze in automobiles, dyes/inks, etc., for the preparation of
engine antifreeze, and for the transportation of industrial cold energy, generally referred to as
"secondary refrigerants".
- Can be used in the production of polyester polyester, hygroscopic agents, plasticizers,
surfactants, synthetic fibers, cosmetics, explosives, and gas dehydrating agents.
- Also used as a wetting agent for cellophane, fibers, leather and adhesives.
- Can be used in the production and synthesis of resin PET, fiber grade PET (i.e. polyester fiber)
and bottle grade PET, used in the manufacture of mineral water bottles, etc.
