What is Cyclohexanone?
Cyclohexanone is an organic compound with the chemical formula C6H10O, a saturated cyclic ketone
whose carbonyl carbon atom is included in a six-membered ring. Clear, colorless liquid with an
earthy smell, when it contains traces of phenol, it has a minty smell. The impurity is light yellow,
and it will develop color with the formation of impurities during storage time, from water white to
grayish yellow, with a strong pungent odor. Mixed with air, the explosive pole is the same as that
of open-chain saturated ketones. It is mainly used as raw material and solvent for organic synthesis
in industry, for example, it can dissolve nitrocellulose, paint, paint and so on.
What is Cyclohexanone used for?
It is used as raw material and solvent for synthetic resin and synthetic fiber, organic solvent.
This product is the raw material for the production of caprolactam and adipic acid, used as a
solvent and thinner for paint, ink, synthetic resin, and synthetic rubber, and also used as a
leather degreaser.
Cyclohexanone is an important chemical raw material and the main intermediate for the manufacture of
nylon, caprolactam and adipic acid. It is also an important industrial solvent, such as used in
paints, especially those containing nitrocellulose, vinyl chloride polymers and their copolymers or
methacrylate polymer paints. Excellent solvent for organophosphorus insecticides and many similar
pesticides, as a solvent for dyes, as a viscous solvent for piston-type aviation lubricants, as a
solvent for grease, wax and rubber. It is also used as a leveling agent for dyed and matted silk, a
degreasing agent for polishing metal, and for wood coloring and painting. Cyclohexanone and
cyanoacetic acid are condensed to obtain cyclohexylidene cyanoacetic acid, and then eliminated and
decarboxylated to obtain cyclohexene acetonitrile, and finally hydrogenated to obtain cyclohexene
ethylamine, which is the drug Kemeche and Temaren and other intermediates.
