What is Caprolactam used for?
The vast majority of caprolactam is used to produce polycaprolactam, about 90% of which is used to
produce synthetic fibers, namely Capron, and 10% is used as plastics for the manufacture of gears,
bearings, pipes, medical equipment, electrical and insulating materials, etc. It is also used in
coatings, plastics and in small amounts in the synthesis of lysine.
How caprolactam is stored and handled?
Operation precautions:
Airtight operation, local exhaust. Operators must undergo special training and strictly abide by the
operating procedures. It is recommended that operators wear self-priming filter dust masks, chemical
safety protective glasses, anti-poison infiltration overalls, and latex gloves. Keep away from fire
and heat sources, and smoking is strictly prohibited in the workplace. Use explosion-proof
ventilation systems and equipment. Avoid generating dust. When handling, load and unload lightly to
prevent damage to packaging and containers. Equipped with corresponding types and quantities of
fire-fighting equipment and leakage emergency treatment equipment. Empty containers may contain
hazardous residues.
Storage precautions:
Store in a cool, ventilated warehouse. Keep away from fire and heat sources. It should be stored
separately from oxidants, alkalis, and food chemicals, and should not be stored together. Equipped
with the appropriate variety and quantity of fire equipment. Storage areas should be equipped with
suitable materials to contain spills.
